Vikto’s Icon designation honors England legends who transcended the national team — players whose status is fixed in football history beyond their international caps alone. Icons receive the bigger ×1.15 era and venue multipliers instead of ×1.10, plus gold visual treatment.

How the game works
Pick England and a position — attackers, midfielders or defenders. Six legends are drawn at random from that one twelve-card pool, so every card in the match shares a position. You’ll see all six names up front, but their scores stay hidden until each card comes up for bid. You and your opponent each start with $250M to spend across the six.
Bids are blind. You can’t see your opponent’s offer until you’ve both locked in, and the higher bid takes the legend. The minimum is $1M and passing isn’t allowed. Spend wisely — the card you overpay for in round one is the budget you don’t have when Bobby Moore appears in round four. And the moment you own three cards, every remaining legend is handed to your opponent for nothing.
Then you each name a captain, worth +10% on that card, and three duels resolve the match: both squads ranked by score, best against best, second against second, third against third. Every match is also set in a decade and at a venue, and a legend who fits either scores 10% more — 15% if they’re an Icon. That’s how an 87-rated Stanley Matthews plays as a 115 and beats a 92-rated Bobby Charlton caught out of era. Win two duels of three and the match is yours; the total across your three cards decides nothing.

Why is Bobby Moore the highest-rated defender at 95?
Moore’s pre-eminence comes from a combination of trophy resume (1966 World Cup as captain), positional intelligence (reading the game at a level few defenders ever matched), and durability (108 caps). No English defender since has surpassed his career consistency.
Where is Jordan Pickford or any goalkeeper?
Vikto doesn’t have a goalkeeper position. The DEF category covers outfield defenders only. Pickford, Banks, Shilton, Seaman — all icons of English football but not part of Vikto’s roster structure.
Why is Kane rated below Bobby Charlton?
Charlton’s combination of international goals (49), the 1966 World Cup, and the 1968 European Cup edges him above Kane’s current resume. If Kane finishes his international career with a major trophy, the rating gap closes.
Where’s Jude Bellingham?
On the shortlist. Vikto adds active players once their international contribution has built a defining body of work. Bellingham’s trajectory after Euro 2024 makes him a strong candidate within the next two seasons.
Are England’s 1990 World Cup squad represented?
Yes. Gascoigne, Lineker, Robson, Wright, Terry Butcher, Stuart Pearce, Peter Beardsley — the spine of Italia ‘90 is in the pool. The 1996 Euros squad is similarly well-represented.
Can I play England vs Germany or Argentina?
Not yet. Both squads come from the same pool, so an England match is England against England. Cross-team formats are on the roadmap, not in the game today — and Argentina has no pool yet either.
