Di Stéfano’s Vikto card
| Alfredo Di Stéfano | |
|---|---|
| Roster | Real Madrid |
| Position | ATT |
| Base score | 96 |
| Era boost | ×1.15 in the match era |
| Venue boost | ×1.15 at the matching venue |
| Ceiling (both boosts, as captain) | 140 |
| Tier | Icon |
| Era | 1953–1964 |
The detail that sets him apart is the era window. 1953–1964 is the earliest of any elite Real Madrid attacker, so in a fifties or sixties match he takes the ×1.15 boost while Cristiano, R9 and Benzema all score flat. That’s a 110 against a 98 — the one reliable way to beat the highest card in the pool.
Is Di Stéfano the greatest?
He has one of the strongest cases of the pre-modern era. Five straight European Cups, two Ballons d’Or, and a game so complete he effectively played every attacking role at once. Vikto rates him at 96, in the elite band — arguably the most complete forward before the modern age.
The reason he’s not at the 99 ceiling is the era and a missing World Cup — he never played in one. So Vikto places him among the very best of his generation, just below the all-time peaks of Pelé and Messi.
Di Stéfano matchups to settle
Di Stéfano has no head-to-head article yet — but the arguments around him are Real Madrid’s greatest, and you can play every one out by drafting him in a Real Madrid match. Two his card invites:
- Cristiano Ronaldo — Madrid’s modern goal king against its original one, the 98 ceiling card versus the 96 foundation the club was built on.
- Ronaldo R9 vs Cristiano Ronaldo — the Madrid forward debate Di Stéfano started, the company he keeps among the greatest to wear white.

How to draft Di Stéfano
At 96 base, Di Stéfano pulls strong bids — usually $72–88M in a Real Madrid match, against your $250M budget. Whether that’s value depends entirely on the match era, which you can check before you commit: in his own decade he’s the best card on the board, and outside it he’s the second-best number at a first-best price.
The trick is reading the pool alongside the era. If Cristiano (98) or R9 (95) is likely to drop later and the match is set in their window, you have stronger options and can let an opponent overpay. If the match is a fifties one, Di Stéfano is worth stretching for — nobody else in the pool gets that boost.
Where he ranks among Icons
The 99 ceiling belongs to Messi and Pelé. Cristiano Ronaldo sits at 98, then R9 and Zidane at 97 — and Di Stéfano sits in the 96 band with Henry, Beckenbauer and Gerd Müller, one rung above the 95 cluster of Cruyff, Garrincha and Best. What separates his card inside that band is the era he occupies: he’s the only elite Real Madrid attacker whose window is the 1950s, so there’s a whole class of matches where he outscores every one of them.
Frequently asked questions

When is Di Stéfano the best card in the pool?
In any match set in the 1950s or 1960s. His 1953–1964 window is the earliest of Real Madrid’s elite attackers, so he takes the ×1.15 era boost — 110 — while Cristiano’s 98 stays flat.
